Muscles of the Leg Posterior
Posterior compartment lies behind the Tibia, Fibula and their Interosseous Membrane. It is further divided into 2 parts, Superficial Compartment and Deep Compartment with muscles divided into both separately. Muscles of Superficial Compartment are :
Muscles of the Deep Compartment are :
Posterior Compartment Muscles are supplied by a common artery which is Posterior Tibial Artery. It run in Posterior Compartment and gives off Muscular Branches along its way which supply the aforementioned Muscles.
Posterior Compartment Muscles are innervated by Tibial Nerve. It runs between Superficial and Deep layers of the Muscles as a thick Cord.
Muscles of the Posterior Compartment are Plantar Flexor which means that they Flex the Foot towards its Plantar Side (lower side).
